Abstract

Galileo is a joint initiative of the European Union and the European Space Agency, and is currently the most ambitious service-oriented and technologically advanced that has ever
been developed in Europe.
It's a navigation satellite system completely under civil control and has the purpose to distribute radio signals on a global scale for the localization, navigation, and time synchronization.
Galileo is based on a constellation of 24 satellites, a worldwide network of ground stations and various control centers, dedicated to the control of the constellation, the management of the mission and the ongoing monitoring of performance.
