Abstract

GIS in Development Cooperation Projects

This article intends to provide an overview on the use of GIS in Development Cooperation Projects with the aim to help the reader to understand the differences, in terms of needs and solutions adopted, between applications in developing countries and in the most economically and technologically advanced countries. Starting from the potential use of GIS in the Project Cycle Management, the article gives examples of applications in monitoring Programs and Strategies, used by Non- Governmental Organizations, as well as some features on the participatory approach.
